Laura Layne

Laura is a graduate from The Ohio State University where she earned her BA's in Anthropology and History, with a focus in Classical Archaeology. During her undergraduate career, Laura participated in two archaeological research projects overseas in Corinth, Greece and Kythera, Greece. While abroad in Kythera, Laura researched the history of a local saint named Ayia Elesa (Saint Elesa).  Her findings later served as the basis for her undergraduate thesis studying gender in early Christian martyrology and hagiography.  Other academic activities included volunteering and eventually interning at The Ohio Historical Society where Laura worked in the Digital Services Department. Tasks involved digitalizing primary source materials such as photographs, diary entries, and newspaper clippings that dated as early as pre-Civil War.

Today, Laura is enrolled in both the Masters in History and the Certificate in Non-Profit Management programs. Her concentration is Europe with a focus in pre-modern history and women.  Since moving to Philadelphia, Laura volunteers regularly at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology.
