Dan graduated magna cum laude from the University of Rochester, where he majored in history and religion (and dabbled in cello performance, political science, and environmental science). While at UR, he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Alpha Theta, and Theta Alpha Kappa, and he was a senior staff writer for the Campus Times. Dan became actively involved with historical research at UR, working on the Post Family Papers Project and the Seward Family Digitization Project through the University's Dept. of Rare Books & Special Collections. He has published on a bunch of topics related to American politics, religion, and culture, but his work often studies the communication of ideas and the uses of rhetoric. At Villanova, he hopes to specialize in U.S. history, mostly of the 19th-century variety, but without ignoring the 20th century or transnational perspectives, either.
Aside from his studies at Villanova, Dan writes for The Daily Pulp. For fun, he enjoys singing, watching movies, traveling, and swing dancing. He can be contacted by email or LinkedIn.
